Looking back on the 2025/26 Season

Womens Team

Womens First Team Manager Jake Waller reflects on the team's performances over the 2025/26 season.

Jake Waller
Womens Team Manager

The 2025/2026 season had a bit of everything, it wasn’t one of the best seasons results wise the team has had but a lot of room for developing and growth as individuals and a team. I also include myself in the category of learning and developing, it was my first season with the team and if I’m honest it has been a lot more challenging than I expected for lots of different reasons. We have had ups and downs throughout the season but I’m very pleased to have ended the season well and I hope we can start the preparation for next year with the same momentum and build on that.

The ladies were asked to play a different style of football and this doesn’t get perfected over night but the ladies have come a long way this season and bought in to process. We are looking at being more structured and the back and more creative going forward and building on from our progress. We have had issues with injuries and suspensions throughout; which has been difficult for the team to adapt to and caused inconsistency in some of our performances. We proved towards the end of the season that we can still mix with the top teams as we had a hard fought victory against a promotion chasing side

Going forward we are looking to retain majority of players going into the next season and keeping this core group of players together. We also have young players coming through which we are supporting into the change of adult football. Also the merger with Deal Town Rangers can only be positive for the club creating an excellent pathway from youth football into the adults game.

We are hoping to push up the table next year and continuing our growth, with some more squad development and tactical awarness we can definitely aim to improve on league position. It may not have been the best season this year but we most certainly laid down foundations, built boundaries and acknowledged expectations. I look forward to what we can achieve next season.

I want to thank the supporters that turn up to games and support the team and also the support we receive from the Deal Town FC board members.
