Deal Town return to The Charles Ground on Tuesday evening as Chatham Town visit in the Kent FA Senior Cup, with kick-off at 7.45pm.

The Hoops come into the game following Saturday’s 1-1 draw away at Peacehaven & Telscombe. That result followed a difficult Bank Holiday defeat to Herne Bay, but Deal have already shown their cup credentials this season with an impressive 4-2 victory away at Binfield in the FA Trophy.

There has been a good spread of goals throughout the Deal side so far this season. Ash Miller, Ben Chapman and Owen Wilkinson currently share the lead with three goals each, while Tom Chapman has two. Ben Chapman and goalkeeper James Tonkin have also been ever-present starters across Deal’s seven recorded competitive fixtures so far.

Tuesday’s opponents Chatham Town will be familiar opposition. The sides last met in the FA Cup in September last year, when Chatham recorded a 3-1 victory at their home ground. Rory Smith scored Deal’s goal that afternoon, giving the Hoops an early lead in the sixth minute.

Across the eight meetings recorded between the clubs over the past ten seasons, Deal have two victories, one draw and five defeats. The most recent meeting at The Charles Ground ended goalless in February 2022, while Deal’s last home victory over Chatham came back in September 2017.

There is also a matchday birthday in the squad, with Ash Miller celebrating his 32nd birthday on Tuesday.
