Josh Davidson.
Towards the end of the first half in yet another closely fought cup match between Deal Town F. C. and Sevenoaks Town F. C. Josh Davidson suffered a cruel double fracture to his lower leg. Fortunately our two guardian angels, Alex Dondi and Donna Underdown had just arrived with their ‘First Responders’ kit in the car so Josh was quickly wrapped up and breathing oxygen mixture. The 999 calls hurtled to HQ at the rate of three a minute as the crowd had all heard the bones snap on impact and everyone realised the seriousness of the damage. The players and officials were now left standing on an increasingly chilly pitch with a feeling of helplessness while all around were glum faces awaiting the rescue services to whisk Josh off to QEQM. That Josh was in severe pain was obvious, especially when the broken lower leg had to be immobilised. Then Josh was gently lifted onto the stretcher by his team mates, Alex and Dave Dadd under the supervision of the ambulance staff. Then another long wait until a qualified paramedic arrived and ensured that Josh was ‘made safe’ for the trip to QEQM and to also evaluate the clinical seriousness of the break. By now the match referee had discussed the likelihood of the game running to completion and the necessary rules were considered with the KCFA referee’s assessor who was in the stand and, with both managers full agreement, the game was abandoned to be replayed (probably) next Saturday at Deal. In a very depressed Deal changing room Josh’s team mates decided that they would donate all their travelling expenses for the rest of the season to help Josh and his family in these next weeks and proposed a fund-raising social evening with the Supporters club and the Reserve team for Saturday 20th February.
The whole club wish Josh a very speedy recovery and hope that the pain is minimal. We also send our deep felt, and sincere best wishes to Josh’s family and if there is anything we, at the club, can do – just ask!
